Once upon a time…
Dave Started his journey in the AV industry in 1997 as an installer for the Bang and Olufsen Centre, Bath Street Glasgow. The centre cemented itself as the third top store within the UK and became a real target store for Bang & Olufsen clients. Within 6 months Dave became the manager and continued to learn the Audio Video trade through a combination of working on the shop floor and carrying out various AV installations most notably multiroom installs using the, ahead of its time, Beolink.
Pivoting with purpose
In 2006, as the B&O store moved away from the brand, Dave brought Avril into the business—and the two decided to take things in a bold new direction. With a shared vision and fresh energy, they launched one of the UK’s first Loewe Galeries, offering premium AV solutions with a sleek, design-led edge. Their combined approach resonated, drawing in loyal clients and attracting a new wave of customers to the brand.
Enter Dizzyfish
In 2013, having now developed a real passion for AV technology and custom installation, we decided to follow this pathway and started our very own AV custom integration business. Dizzyfish was born!
Just like our name we aimed to do things differently and this started by putting customer service at the heart of our business.
We’ve grown from humble beginnings into a thriving family business—Dizzy Dave, Avril, our daughter (aka Minifish), and even the depot mascot, Dizzydog.
Dizzyfish continues to deliver bespoke audio visual solutions across Scotland and beyond, blending technical expertise with exceptional service.
Fun Fact – But Why Dizzyfish? (Click to find out!!)
Its a question we are asked all the time – Why are we called Dizzyfish?
With most companies in our trade having very functional names we wanted something people would remember.
At the time we had a cat called Dizzy (named after the keyboardist with Guns N Roses) and we called her ‘our wee Dizzyfish’ as a nickname so the name started from there.
Some would ask what it has to do with the industry but we do point out that pre 70’s the prime definition of an Apple was a fruit.
A little fish with big ambitions
During lockdown in 2020 the world seemed to stop but it seemed that the Dizzyfish brand was just getting started. We took the slowdown in installations as an opportunity to explore distributing a series of AV brands and technology. It all started with a chance conversation with two US suppliers looking for a UK distribution partner.
That spark lit the fire for Dizztribution. What began as a chance conversation soon became a defining moment. We saw the perfect opportunity to launch something new—Dizztribution. As integrators ourselves, we knew what we were looking for: top-tier AV brands that deliver on quality, reliability, and performance. So we set out to bring those very products—both new discoveries and trusted favourites—to the UK trade market, giving installers access to equipment they could count on.
Dizztribution – AV Products, tech and tools for Installers by Installers
At Dizztribution we believe that having confidence in our products is key. As AV integrators ourselves we use these products in our own installations and so we have the confidence that your clients will get the quality of products they require.
Life’s a journey not a destination…
So here we are, still providing the excellent AV goodness in our Dizzyfish installations, but now also offering a UK AV distribution service, providing advice on, supplying and distributing AV products to trade integrators and installers in the AV, electrical, IT, networking and security trades.
We like to think that Dizzy the cat would be really proud of the fact her name still lives on after she sadly passed in 2024 having reached the grand old age of 22, but its more likely would still be more interested in asking for more kitbits!
